TRAVEL ADVIS0RY UPDATE - October 3, 2020

Beginning August 1, 2020, all travelers visiting and residents returning to Massachusetts are required to both:

1. Fill out a travel form

2. Self-isolate for 14 days OR submit a negative test result that is no more than 72 hours old


Failure to comply will result in a $500 per day fine & recent travelers must produce a certified negative test result if requested.

- a negative test after traveling removes self-isolation requirement.

- This requirement also applies to students returning to campus for fall 2020.


Exceptions include:

- Traveling or returning from a state ruled by the Commissioner of Public Health to have lower positive test rate than MA

(As of Sept 5: NY, VT, CT, ME, NH, & DC)

- Workers providing critical infrastructure


- Lodging operators must inform visitors at the time of booking and check-in of requirements.






REOPENING STANDARDS FOR CAMPGROUNDS - Phase III, Step 1

  • Overall campground capacity must be managed to accommodate adequate social distancing campsite distance, and bathroom capacity, based on an assessment by the campground manager.
  • Visitors and employees must abide by social distancing protocols. Visitors and staff and individuals from different campsite groups must remain 6 feet apart at all times. Visitors who are members of a group staying at the same campsite are not required to social distance from each other.
  • Individual campgrounds may set or maintain lower campsite occupancy limits.

Fernwood Forest: The maximum occupancy, for campers and their guests on each seasonal or tent campsite is 5. (group site, #40, 8) The exception to this rule will be based on number residing in household but not to exceed ten.

  • Remote payment and credit card transactions are encouraged.
  • Face coverings are required for all workers and customers in accordance with COVID-19 Order 31: Order Requiring Face Coverings in Public Places Where Social Distancing is Not Possible to prevent against the transmission of COVID-19.
  • Group activities where social distancing cannot be maintained are limited to a single campsite group.
  • Activities between or among more than one campsite group are permitted provided that each campsite group maintains social distancing of at least 6 feet from each other campsite group.
  • Log everyone who comes in contact with the campground to enable contact tracing (name and phone number or name and email address), including temporary visitors. It is recommended that at least one individual per campsite is logged so as to assist with contact tracing



Fernwood Forest Campground is family owned and operated. 
Located in the beautiful Berkshires just off Route 8 in Hinsdale Massachusetts,
it offers 44 tent and RV sites on 115 acres of natural woodlands
adjacent to the Appalachian Trail. Area golf courses, Tanglewood,
Mt Greylock, and other cultural attractions are easily accessible from the campground.

Campsites for RVs and tents may be reserved from May 1 through October 15.
We also have seasonal availability
for your affordable home away from home in the cool, clean mountain air.
The campground is within walking distance to Plunkett Lake
for swimming, fishing, and boating.
